Hi Paul. Great Videos. As someone who has been holding off buying a PC as a result of the 3000 series, my question is. How will the new cards effect using an Air Cooler on the CPU, as this is the option I was going for on a 3600xt (Noctua NH-U14S)

@Steruset if your doing 1080p gaming i would be sure any new 30 seris cards will be fine its 1080p. also you mite want to upgrade your cpu like 3600x or something. but then again 1080p ant hard to run.

RTX 3080 question for a striped version. Because we are all going to be Liquid cooling them anyway, as Linus would say Liquid cooling is dead....Ahhh....Never!

Question for you, is there any problem with simply moving a storage drive to a new system? I'm building a new computer, but I'd rather move my game drive over than reformat and download 1Tb of games again

Hey Paul. I recently ordered a Asus Rog Strix B550-a. It has a 8 pin + 4 pin cpu power. I only plan to drop in a 3600x in there. Would I still need to find a power supply with two cpu power cables, or can I just ignore the 4 pin?

impressive after all...but that's far from the "best case" scenarios Nvidia used in their marketing of 40-60% faster.

Hey Paul, love the channel. I know how uncomfortable being probed makes you, so I'll try to keep it short. CPUID HWMonitor routinely reports that my Ryzen 7 2700 is boosting on all cores to 4.9 and 5.2 GHz while gaming. I have it OC'd to 4.0 GHz @ 1.35 V on an X370 mobo, and I'm using the stock Wraith Prism cooler. Is this a problem with HWMonitor, the motherboard, ect, or did I win the silicon lottery? Should I get a good aio and see how far it will OC?

Hey Paul, I appreciate the series. I am asking about the Eve Spectrum monitors that you discussed in Awesome Hardware earlier this year. They are supposed to be coming out soon and I recall that they had awesome specs at an awesome price. So I'm wondering if you know what is happening with them?

So I was one of the few that was able to grab a card this morning. But my question is are they going to be out for delivery right away or are they going to take a while until they're able to deliver the release date was the 17th but to be honest I'm not 100% sure if that was the released for pre orders or if my 3080 is going to be in the mail here shortly

is it possible to get full 144hz at 4k with the latest display port cable? from my research the only way to actually get it is with hdmi 2.1 because of bandwidth.

I’m using a 2 GPU setup with a custom side panel with 2x140mm intake fans directly over the GPU. My motherboard only had 3 slots between the x16 slots. Is it better to have a 2 slot or up to 2.7 slot card in the top slot? Does more area for fresh air or a bigger cooler matter more?

Will there be any additional options as far as PSU/GPU connectivity? As of now I’ve only heard of adapter that convert 2 8 pins to 1 12 pin, which is problematic for me considering my PSU only has 1 8 pin despite having more than enough overhead to support a 3070. Will there be alternative options? Such as a 6 + 8 pin to a 12??

Thank you for this video, i always watch your channel to help myself decide when making a purchase. One question i have, and also maybe someone in the comment section has a similar system. My model is Dell Desktop XPS 8930, and it's a very poorly ventilated case. A lot of people recommended installing additional fans to help with overheating, but i'm not tech savvy enough to do that. So i'm hoping to pick a 3080 card that can provide adequate cooling on its own....my question is, for not so good ventilated case which edition of 3080 should i get? I was thinking of the founder's edition but my worry is that the top side exhaust fan will be obstructed by the swing out psu of my case which obviously will limit air circulation. Any advice???

Hello everyone! I'm building my first PC, going away from console gaming. I'm think of going with an RTX 3080 and Ryzen 7 3700X. Am I going to bottleneck anything or is this going to be a good setup? I'm going to do 1080p/1440p gaming.

Probably going to be putting off more heat? HAHAHA.... no dude, they're going to be freakin' space heaters! There's a FLIR picture of a 3080 under load and it measures ~65C!!!! at the finstack. That's around 150 deg F dude.... better make sure nothing in your case touches that shit like water tubes or power wires cause it will likely melt. Also "thermo cycling" apparently according to Paul, its "not a thing".

So FE cards prob will run out super fast, if cards with after market coolers are rly slower than FE for same or higher price then 3k series is a skip, bs by nvidia.

I'm a technology teacher looking to raise money for a rolling desk and portable monitor, which will help with social distancing when we return to campus next week. If you would like to help support my "classroom" (which will consist of this because students will be in their rooms all day this year and I'll go to them instead of them coming to the computer lab), please consider helping. My school is a title 1 school, and unfortunately we've been told that we don't have the funds to purchase "extras" like this this year: @t

one point missed here about shutting down pc, the wear is on the thermal paste. large differences in temperature causes it to dry out faster.

Big Navi (21) will be in between 3080 and 3070 with performance and with an overclock youll see it match the 3080 - more importantly it wont be a room heater and it wont cost an arm and a leg to run

i have a feel that the downfall of the 3080 and 3090 will be heat. I forsee dozens of extatic gamers playing 4k titles at 120fps dressed only in their underpants and sweating profusely in mid december with all the windows open. Where will all this heat go ? = into your room

I also got a question! But you may only test it if you got a 3080 card yourself. The 2080ti was already using on 4K/UHD resolution at least around ~7-8 gb V-ram minimum, some games even more- especially on DX12 and some few games could eb even set up to 16gbs (like Red dead redempotion). Are the supposed super fast GDDR6 "X" will be really enough? (I personally doubt that and believe this will cause fps drops or in general less fps if constandy filled up.)

5:10 650W recommended, my current GTX 1080 with i9 9900k (5.1Ghz on all cores) only uses 350W, i'm hoping this will be OK when I upgrade my GPU in a few years to a RTX 3080! I wonder if anyone else is in the same boat

I just set up an HDMI switcher the other day and the soundbar I am using doesn't support 4k pass through for HDMI. What I ended up doing was going directly from the switcher (which I found one that specifically supports HDR 10 and 4k60 passthrough) to my TV/Monitor/Capture card and from the TV I have an optical cable that goes to my soundbar. I think it works well enough for an HTPC.

TBH I'm super cool with nvidia saving their best stuff for their FE cards. The fact that AIBs charge upwards of $200-$300 over MSRP is ridiculous. NVIDIA selling super comparable AT MSRP is super consumer friendly and I'm all for it.

Thanks for keeping us up to date! Its tough times, so thanks for not letting us down. I'm going to be helping a friend build a pc but not sure if he should wait for new gen hardware this fall/winter. For now, time to consider the performance of current gen CPUs/GPUs/MB/Storage/blahblah/ect according to their budget!
